Learn how to craft a proposal that is tailored to

match your funder's areas of interest.

 

 Seminar will cover

 Components of a foundation grant proposal

 How to put yourself in the grant maker’s shoes

 Variety of proposals and submission techniques

 What to do if the answer is yes – or no

 Identifying the most suitable foundation prospect for your organization

 Customizing your proposal to appeal to your targeted foundation

 

Learn through group exercises derived from

real-life foundation grant proposals.

 

Participants will receive training certification from the Connecticut Association of Nonprofits and The Foundation Center Cooperating Collection of the New Haven Free Public Library. C.E.U.s are available. 

Instructor Judith Margolin

Instructor Judith Margolin is a Stamford-based consultant and workshop leader on foundations and grants. She served for several years as Vice President for Planning and Evaluation at the Foundation Center, the nation’s leading authority on philanthropy. Her books include The Individual’s Guide to Grants and Financing a College Education. She has also edited multiple editions of the Foundation Center’s how-to books, including Foundation Fundamentals, Guide to Proposal Writing, Grantseeker’s Guide to Winning Proposals, and After the Grant.

The Main (Ives) branch of the New Haven Free Public Library system is located at 133 Elm St., across from the New Haven Green, corner of Elm and Temple. Yale Lot #51 on Temple Street (across the street from the library) opens to the public at 4pm, and there are 2-hour parking meters on streets surrounding the library.
